Chair members participate in the Graduate Student Conference of the Center for the Study of Democratic Citizenship

On the 1st and 2nd of April, the 12th edition of the Graduate Student Conference of the Center for the Study of Democratic Citizenship (CSDC) took place at the Clarendon Hotel in Quebec City. This edition, that was co-organized by Nadjim Fréchet, was the first in-person since the beginning of the pandemic. Four students of the Canada Research Chair in Electoral Democracy, Virginie Vandewalle, Juliette Leblanc, Matthew Taylor, and Philippe Mongrain, presented their articles at the Conference.

Philippe Mongrain won the prize for the best doctoral presentation for his article “With a Little Help From My Friends? The Impact of Social Networks on Citizens’ Forecasting Ability”. In this article, Philippe casts doubt on the ability of social interactions to influence citizens’ forecasting skills with data from 72 electoral studies.
