PhD student

Virginie Vandewalle is a PhD student in political science at the Université de Montréal. Her research focuses on Canadian politics, with a particular emphasis on the gender gap in politics at both the federal and provincial levels. Under the co-supervision of Ruth Dassonneville and Jean-François Godbout, she is currently pursuing her doctoral degree. Vandewalle has already made a contribution to the field with her master’s thesis, supervised by Ruth Dassonneville, which examined the question: “Are right-wing political parties favored by female suffrage in Canada and Quebec?”. Additionally, she has collaborated on the article “Voting for women in recent Canadian elections,” published in French Politics alongside Gareau-Paquette, Léal, Leblanc, Taylor, and Dassonneville.
